Mobile Business Insights: How DaaS enables the mobile enterprise

What is DaaS and how are companies using it to support their mobile-focused work force? Also, a look at why mobile apps aren’t only for the consumption of information anymore.

How desktop-as-a-service models enable the mobile enterprise
Desktop-as-a-service, or DaaS, is an emerging approach to centralized control of sessions and storage, driven by the use of mobile devices. Companies are increasingly turning to these “everything-as-a-service” technologies to better support their mobile-focused work force. Not only can employee productivity be realized, but also cost savings and better control over their bottom line can take place.

The “mobile is only for consumption” idea is flawed
When smartphones were first introduced, there was a general acknowledgement that they would be excellent devices purely for the consumption of information. But as time has passed, interacting on smartphones has matured such that content can be created on mobile. There is still a lingering mindset that mobile is strictly for consumption, but new apps for the enterprise are proving that mobile can be suitable for creation.

What's your app priority?
Much has prevented IT admins from rolling out mobile: mainly to do with security. But as enterprise mobile management has eased some worries around BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), the new focus now is on deploying mobile apps to employees. Many companies are looking to roll out apps that support collaboration and productivity.

Mobile is the new desktop, and that's good for enterprise apps
If you look at data that measures internet usage, only just recently has Android surpassed Windows for the OS being used for access. This means then, that the majority of web surfing is being done from mobile devices. This is good news for the enterprise, when it comes to considering building software for employees to use. Building for mobile is vastly different than building for the desktop, but in a lot of ways it is simpler. With the addition of low and no-code mobile app development options, companies can focus efforts on mobile apps easily.
