84,000 Steps, Aussie Rules, and the Catalyst for Magic
Our team in Australia, with Cuneyt at the helm, is on fire. On the heels of a record year, they continue to deliver stellar performance. So it was about time for me to see what was up Down Under and see if some of the Aussie rules could also be applied to the rest of NewsGator.
Aussie Rules — Score 110
After kicking off the week with a kind of rugby — Aussie rules football — we invited our customers, prospects, and partners for “Collective” Sydney to the Australia Museum with an amazing view over the skyline of that great city. Combined with our event in Melbourne, we had 110 participants (Just as the Swans scored 110 vs. the Tigers at the Sunday game) — including our customers AMP, Coca Cola, and LJ Hooker and our partners Microsoft, nSynergy, OBS, and WebTrends who were discussing and presenting the latest and greatest on social business.
AMP Scores Again
The most popular session was —once again —local hero, AMP, with their award-winning social workplace built with NewsGator Social Sites. The wonderful Octavia, presented the story. Already voted “Best Social Case Study” at the Collective in Denver, "the Hub" also scored Down Under. AMP leadership understood early-on how important it was to unlock the power of connected people in their organization. Initially built on Yammer, the financial services company upgraded "the Hub" to NewsGator and SharePoint for the better integration and extensions — a great joint project of Microsoft and NewsGator.
Catalyst for Magic
Another highlight was an inspiring fireside chat with Annalie, creator and curator of Amplify, one of Asia Pacific's most respected corporate innovation events. Her title, “Catalyst for Magic” summarizes quiet well what she is working on. Not shy to take a controversial view, we had a healthy debate about authentic personas in the digital space, cats in bikinis, and the future of work. We recorded the fireside chat and will show case the video footage soon. Stay tuned.
In the Sky, On Sky
After a series of fireside chats with wonderful leaders around the globe, from Renault and JPMorgan Chase — to AMP and Unisys, it was about time for me to take the hot seat on the other side of the table. Live from the Sky News Macquarie Park studio, I had the short and intense pleasure to chat with Nigel Freitas of Sky Business about social business, the future of the CIO, and why Microsoft can't afford to buy NewsGator.
84,000 steps on track with great people
Let's face it, Australia rocks. It is a great place with wonderful people and the NewsGator team with Cuneyt, Steve, Luke and the gang is outstanding. With an amazing group of customers, we had a great run. In fact, my Fitbit tracker counted a record 84,000 steps this week, which pushed me up to 2nd place in the NewsGator activity ranking, only beaten by Matt, our lead in London. Maybe it's time to see what he is up to :-)
