Gartner has released the 2013 Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace and NewsGator is mentioned as a “Challenger”. I find that title fitting since it’s in our DNA to challenge the entire market on what social really does for an organization.
We make social real.
We score high on the ability to execute. Our customers (many Fortune ranked) trust us and we’ve proven ourselves with millions of happier, more productive users. In fact we are in the top two of all the social pure play vendors.
Our strategic direction is clear.
Daniel Kraft, our CEO, recently posted a blog on our strategic vision and as I read through the Quadrant on all the strengths and cautions Gartner puts forward, it validates so much of our thinking.
A few highlights I find particularly exciting:
Thank you to our great customers!
“Several reference customers with large user numbers above 10,000 commented on the ease of deployment and ease of use.” Thank you to our customers who continue to validate our great solution.
One thing is certain: we execute!
If you look at all the players in the quadrant, we are one of very few vendors who focus exclusively on social and our strong ability to execute is on par with players like Microsoft, IBM and Salesforce.com. We have an amazing team here at NewsGator.
Gartner recognizes our viability
Gartner calls out a caution on our viability, but you need to read the actual statement: “However, uncertainty surrounds future sustainable differentiation if NewsGator continues to focus on only filling SharePoint gaps.” Well, we all know that while we originally started that way, we’ve grown our portfolio and will continue on this path in 2014. Sure we love SharePoint and continue to help those who have made investments in the Microsoft ecosystem, but we are now building real business solutions which help business users gain real value from social. Brian Kellner, our CTO, highlights our focused approach in a recent blog about the future of Glassboard.
The title of challenger is quite fitting. We have been breaking ground in the social space for years — always innovating ahead of the market — and for us that will never change. Sure, Gartner recognizes some big names as leaders and they deserve their spots, but we challenge you to really define what social can do for your organization and then look at NewsGator to help empower your use cases.
If you are in the middle of sorting out which solution is right, I also encourage you to take a look at our Buyers Guide to help you through this process.
