NewsGator Collective 2013 kicks-off with record attendance
Customer, partner count up by 40 percent as event focuses on user adoption, making social real.
NewsGator kicked off the Collective, its annual user conference today with a recording-setting 200+ customers and partners in attendance. With Microsoft as its title sponsor, this year’s event will focus on “Making Social Real,” customers like JPMorgan Chase, Kellogg Company, Unisys and Comcast will share their experiences around how social makes them a better, more efficient company and an interesting employer.
Social is transforming the way we work. Together with customers and partners, NewsGator has developed a formula that addresses people engagement, business alignment and technology enablement, leading to an integrated framework that helps organization harvest the value of social.
Panels and sessions on the Collective agenda will cover a range of key social workplace topics, from “Driving Adoption” and “Measuring the Success of Enterprise Social Collaboration” to “Achieving Social & Informal Learning Goals with NewsGator & SharePoint” and “Critical Success Factors for Introducing Social Collaboration in the Corporation.”

In addition to customers and partners, Collective attendees will hear from leading thinkers on creating success in the emerging social workplace. Today, attendees will hear Constellation Research Principal Analyst and CEO R “Ray” Wang on “The Power of Engagement at Work and for Customers,” as well as Chess Media Group Principal Jacob Morgan, drawing from his new book, The Collaborative Organization, and his consulting and research experience detailing 12 key principles that help ensure success in collaboration initiatives.
The technology of social will get its due at this year’s Collective, with a special focus on features that drive adoption and engagement. A Hackathon is being held on Tuesday and Wednesday letting attendees work directly with NewsGator developers to envision, build, and present an extension to Social Sites in just one day. Extensions will be judged and winners may be included in a future release of Social Sites.
The agenda will also include a speed round of pitches from partners highlighting extensions they’ve built on Social Sites to help drive adoption and engagement. An Experience Lounge will also run all day Wednesday, giving attendees an opportunity to interact with and offer feedback on the user experience within Social Sites.
The Collective will wrap-up on Thursday with a two part look at current features and the road map ahead for Social Sites delivered by Brian Kellner, NewsGator’s chief technology officer. This session will give attendees what they need to get the most out of Social Sites while planning for a future that will undoubtedly change the way people in their organization work.
